Neal Newfield
Dr. Newfield is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker who holds a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Works. His doctorate is in marriage and family therapy and he is a Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Past experience includes inpatient and outpatient therapy as a faculty member with the WVU Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry and teaching individual, group, and family therapy for the WVU School of Social Work for 30 years as a tenured faculty member. He holds an Emeritus appointment with the School of Social Work and is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology. In Psychology, for a period of time he supervised a team of psychology and social work graduate students as well as carried a practice in the Quin Curtis Center which is the psychology clinic at WVU.
He has practiced Zen mindfulness and meditation for over a decade and helps facilitate a Zen sangha as well as teach workshops on secular mindfulness and meditation. He is a certified Mindfulness Based Resilience Training (MBRT) coach.
